GENERAL INFORMATION

The Athens Euroclinic Radiodiagnostic Lab is staffed with experienced scientific personnel and equipped with the latest technology. All imaging scans (CT, MRI, X-rays) and a large array of interventional exams are performed at the Lab, in line with the guidelines of the US and European radiological societies.

Latest technology imaging equipment:

The Radiology Department is equipped with the latest technology, performing a wide range of exams fast and safely, paying attention to accurate diagnosis and patient comfort.

Affiliated with EOPYY:

The Euroclinic is affiliated with the National Organizations for Healthcare (EOPYY) for performing CT and MRI scans with relevant EOPYY referrals. For further information, contact the Department Reception by phone.

MRI DEPARTMENT

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a human-body imaging method that is based on the use of magnetic resonance rather than radiation. That is why it is friendly for children and pregnant women (after the 3rd trimester).

The Euroclinic MRI Department is equipped with a Siemens Symphony Maestro 1.5T scanner and the latest technology Siemens MAGNETOM Aera 1.5T scanner, which uniquely combines advanced technologies and innovative functions that ensure quality diagnostic and imaging results, while maximizing patient comfort during the exam.

Specifically, the state-of-the-art MAGNETOM Aera 1.5T scanner features are:

The high signal-to-noise ratio and the Tim 4G high-channel coils ensure quality imaging, which is key to accurate diagnosis.

The 70 cm open bore (as opposed to the 60 cm of most closed MRI devices) ensures more free space for the patient during the exam, significantly reducing the unpleasant feeling of claustrophobia.

Both the Moonlight® light and the body of the device, which has been specially designed and manufactured using suitable materials, have been selected to make the imaging process more patient-friendly.

With a total length of just 145 cm, MAGNETOM Aera allows for the majority of scans to be performed with the head of the patient outside the examination area for most of the scan time.

The roominess of the device accommodates a large variety of patient sizes (e.g. obese patients), while the distribution of coil and the MRI design allow scanning the entire body once, without repositioning the coils or moving the patient, which also assists and expedites scans performed on people with mobility problems or disabilities.

The exam time and time spent inside the MRI devices is up to 40% shorter compared to conventional scanners, without this, however, affecting the quality of the result. This is made possible by using up to 204 channels in the same scan/FoV and by preparing patients, especially those with limited mobility, outside the area of the scanner and transferring them only for the scan.

Quiet Suite technology reduces mechanical noise by up to 70%, with no compromises to the produced image quality. This achieves high-resolution imaging, without the annoying noise patients hear during the exam.

The MRI Department performs the entire range of simple MRIs, but also the latest special imaging scans, including:

  • Brain
  • Pituitary gland
  • Head
  • Neck
  • Cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine
  • Pelvis/Hips
  • Mediastinum
  • Breasts
  • Upper and lower abdomen
  • Upper/Lower limbs
  • Angiography of the brain, carotid arteries, thoracic aorta, abdominal aorta, and upper and lower limbs
  • Cardiac MRI with T1 and T2 mapping protocol
  • Multiparametric MRI of prostate
  • Quantitative T2-mapping of cartilage
  • Spectroscopy
  • Tractography
  • Dynamic study of first pass perfusion (DCE/DSC perfusion)
  • Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI)
  • Diffusion (DW/IVIM)
  • CSF flow study
  • Full-body MRI

CT DEPARTMENT

Computed Tomography (CT) is an imaging method that is based on the use of X-rays to get images of the human body, just as in the case with conventional radiology. However, as opposed to conventional radiology, the CT scanner can scan the entire human body in just a few seconds with the use of multiple detectors. The more the detectors, the shorter the time required to perform the exam and the more improved the image quality.

The Euroclinic CT Department is equipped with the TOSHIBA Aquilion CX 128, which, due to its multiple detectors (128) allows us to perform a large range of imaging scans, even very specialized ones, including:

  • Brain
  • Pituitary gland
  • Head
  • Dental
  • Neck
  • Cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine
  • Pelvis/Hips
  • Chest
  • Upper and lower abdomen
  • Upper/Lower limbs
  • CT coronary angiography
  • CT of the brain, carotids, thoracic and abdominal aorta, pulmonary
  • arteries and veins, upper and lower limb vessels
  • CT colonography
  • CT bronchoscopy

CT-guided percutaneous biopsy of various body organs (lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas, adrenal glands, soft tissue, etc.), as well as abscess drainage and percutaneous nephrostomy.

CONVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT

The Conventional Radiology Department performs the entire range of simple X-rays, using the Visaris Meditron simple X-ray digital cassette. Compared to the commonly used X-ray cassettes, these ones reduce the X-ray time, significantly decrease the radiation dose, and maximize the resolution and quality of the result. Combined with the Full Spine system, it provides the option of assessing and measuring scoliosis with great accuracy. With the help of fluoroscopy, we also perform dynamic exams for evaluating patency and identifying digestive tract disorders.

Some of the exams performed include:

  • Head
  • Face
  • Chest
  • Abdomen
  • Cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral spine
  • Upper/Lower limbs
  • Pelvis/Hips
  • Bone age
  • Scanography, etc.
  • Esophagus
  • Stomach & duodenum
  • Small bowel (enteroclysis)
  • Large bowel (barium enema)
  • Pyelography, etc.
