Euroclinic: Innovative project for the preservation and protection of artwork

Euroclinic is launching a new innovative project, offering unique services in the field of preservation and protection of our cultural heritage.

After studying, preserving and restoring the unique icon of Theotokos from the Great Cave Monastery in the town of Kalavryta in the regional unit of Achaia, the Ancient and Modern Monuments Preservation Department of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports asked Euroclinic to examine this icon by using advanced imaging technology: CT scanner and X-ray device.

This way, it is possible to analyze such a significant artwork with non-damaging methods of examination and analysis, with the aim of its long-term preservation.

All works were completed with spectacular results at the imaging labs of the Athens Euroclinic by Mr. Georgios Vakrinos, Director of the Department, in cooperation with Ms. Melina Fotopoulou, Antiquities Conservator, Mr. Alexandros Lekkas, her associate, and Mr. Konstantinos Kiousis, Art Conservator.
